Aug. 24, 2023 - On the first day of the school year, Comal ISD welcomed new students and new teachers to its fast-growing district. Among them was Sam Jordan, who chose to move more than 500 miles away from home to begin her teaching career with Comal ISD after meeting the principal of Comal Creek Elementary at a recruitment fair.
Jordan, who is originally from El Paso, stopped to talk to Carla Carter, the first principal of Comal Creek, during the fair at West Texas A&M University where she attended college. She knew right away that she wanted to work with her and with Comal ISD.
Fast-forward a few months and Jordan is teaching the second grade at CCES and following in the footsteps of her mother, who is also an educator.
“I am excited to be a small chapter in the lives of my students,” says Jordan, who played volleyball in college and helped lead the team to a national championship this spring.
Currently, Comal ISD is hiring for all positions including after-school childcare, child nutrition, custodians, facilities maintenance, paraprofessionals both instruction and office staff, teachers, technology, transportation, special education and substitutes. The district is hosting a job fair 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the Support Services Office, 1404 IH 35 N, in New Braunfels. Applicants may find current openings on the district’s website.
Jordan was featured this week in a back-to-school segment on News 4 San Antonio.
