June 4, 2024 - The Comal Independent School District celebrated the achievements of 2,096 high school graduates during its record-number eight graduations for the class of 2024. The ceremonies took place over the course of several days beginning May 22 and ending May 25. This marked the first graduating class and ceremony for two Comal ISD campuses - Hill Country College Preparatory High School and Pieper High School.
Combined, the class of 2024 accepted $25.3 million in scholarships from a variety of sources including colleges, local, community and ROTC. In addition, 65 recent graduates have committed to serving in the United States military either through enlistment, military academies or ROTC programs.
This class also has 95 student athletes who committed to play the sport of their choice at the collegiate level including the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, Baylor University, Texas Tech University, the United States Military Academy at West Point and Princeton University. They will compete in football, baseball, softball, basketball, track, golf, tennis, wrestling, cheer, soccer, volleyball and lacrosse.
Academically, the class of 2024 has four National Merit Scholars, one National Merit Finalist and 14 Commended Students.
Rounding out the accomplishments for this year’s graduating class are students who are following career paths they began exploring and studying in high school from agriculture, business, healthcare, aviation and law enforcement to construction, auto mechanics and welding.
Many graduates who have honed their skills and talents in fine arts classes have made plans to pursue their dreams at the next level as well from music and theater to art and dance.

- The 2024 Memorial ECHS class boasts one National Merit Scholar, two National Merit Commended Students, four National Hispanic Recognition Award honorees and one National African American Recognition Award. Additionally, Fisher is an AP Scholar.
- Noted signings: Zen Ayala accepted a $90,000 scholarship to play eSports at the University of Health Science and Pharmacy in St. Louis; and Sterling Wright accepted a $68,000 scholarship to swim at McMurry University.
- Jaela Bailey became the UIL State 3A champion for headline writing.
