December 5, 2025 - The winners of Comal ISD’s 3rd Annual Christmas Card Contest were surprised at their campuses Thursday with the announcement. The honorees received a set of Christmas cards featuring their designs along with their original artwork showcased in a special frame.
The three winners represent elementary, middle and high school categories with one of their designs chosen as the cover art winner.
The 2025 Christmas Card cover depicts the Comal ISD logo as an ornament hanging on a tree with “Merry Christmas” written across the design. Created by Jenny Le, an eighth-grade student from Pieper Ranch Middle School, this design was selected from entries collected across the district. Her art teacher is Edyta Ellison.
“It feels great. All I’ve ever wanted to do since coming to Comal ISD is to represent my school and this district,” says Le, who serves as the secretary of the National Junior Honor Society at PRMS as well as being a member of the volleyball and track teams.
“I wanted to make the ornament of the Comal ISD logo to represent our district and show our gratitude and morale for our district,” says Le while explaining her design.
She used colored pencils to create the colorful scene starting with a pencil sketch. While colored pencils are her favorite art tools, she would like to hone her skills using oil pastels and watercolor.
The other two designs by an elementary school student and a high school student are featured on the back of the 2025 card.
The winner for elementary is Lily Babb, a fifth-grade student from Kinder Ranch Elementary School. Her design features a Christmas scene with a fireplace, decorated tree and two pets curled up on the floor. Her art teacher is Juanita Gatrelle.
The winner for high school is a two-time winner in this category. Ashton Dunbar, an 11th-grade student from Pieper High School won last year as well. This year, his design features a snowman surrounded by trees and snowy mountains with a blue and pink sky. His art teacher is Jennifer Snellings.
The cards are being sent to all Comal ISD employees.
Congratulations!
